To attract more workers and showcase their company culture, companies are using job titles such as “coding ninjas” and “customer-service rock stars” in online postings. Branded job titles can appeal to some applicants, but they can also discourage others who might think they don't fit the criteria, reports The Atlantic. Fancy job titles can create a higher chance for gender and age skews in the applicant pool, for example. Additionally, creative terms can mess with the keyword-driven algorithm on company job boards.
