Another year to test our will, faith and pride but those of us who live by the land will do our best to survive. "The farmer has to be an optimist or he wouldn’t still be a farmer.”- Will Rogers

Cows are to grass what powder skiers are to fresh snow. They leave every inch available trampled, and they waste no time at it. When you add the fact that the hay fields are disturbing the land and draining the streams for cows, and that chaining and "veg treatment" is all for cows, then you start to get the picture that cows are the main problem. Now settle on the fact that public land grazing, which is most the land, could not happen without our public subsidy. Wind is not the only thing that will make you crazy.

The immense damage caused by livestock in the West is such a hard notion to get across. 'Mericans love their cowboys. But "Bovineiferous period" and the "Beefocene" is getting there! I like the latter. Rhymes with "obscene." Thanks, Jonathan.

I find this all very fascinating. Thank you for this article. Recreation and dispersed camping on our public lands also has a huge impact on soils. https://youtu.be/YWf3h3siYe4
