In the transitory, post Bretton Woods world of today, the contrast between potential content and new form has never been more distinct. Obviously, this implies an ocean of possibility for artistic interpretation, but also opens up new perspectives for idealistic change. New words, new language, old words, old language, new words, old language, old words, new language. The generation of comfort intuitively knows what I’m talking about – or not. “Product Placement” is a deep dive, an immersion, an attempt at self-definition and self-discovery. It is also, and above all, a catchy title. The Compositions were written in New York, Copenhagen, Warsaw and Gdansk.
Kamil Piotrowicz Sextet was established by Polish pianist and composer of the young jazz generation, Kamil Piotrowicz. The band released two albums, „Product Placement” (2018) and ”Popular Music" (2016), both nominated for the Polish Phonographic Academy's Fryderyk award - the Polish equivalent of a Grammy. The group played at the most important festivals in Poland, like Jazz Jantar in Gdansk, Jazz nad Odrą in Wrocław, Jazz Jamboree in Warsaw, Summer Jazz Academy in Lodz or Komeda Jazz Festival in Slupsk. Music of the band is based on original compositions of the leader.
