Piers Morgan has had a pop at last night's Strictly Come Dancing final, which saw deaf EastEnders actress Rose Ayling-Ellis win, and Strictly fans are not happy.

The fomer Good Morning Britain and Life Stories host went on Twitter to vent his feelings about the culmination of the dance competition, writing: "Tuned into #Strictly for the first time in years and everyone’s crying because everyone’s so perfect. Sorry, but [vomit face emoji]"

Ayling-Ellis won the glitterball trophy along with her pro partner, Giovanni Pernice and they beat same-sex couple, Bake Off's John Whaite and pro dancer Johannes Radebe, in a show filled with emotion for so many reasons.

Both finalists broke new ground in being the first deaf contestant and the first same-sex couple to reach the final and tears were also flowing because third finalist, AJ Odudu, had to pull out of the dancing because of a torn ligament in her foot.

Strictly Come Dancing viewers were quick to pull Piers up on his grouchiness on Twitter with one commenter, Mandy Palmer, replying: "Perhaps if you had paid a bit more attention you will see how the programme has educated people on disability and sexuality, isn’t it nice in these troubled times to actually have something that is so beautiful!"

Anne Wareing wrote a comeback saying Piers was off the boil with his remark: "I’ll take watching soppy strictly perfection tonight Piers. We are currently living in a world of hate, anger & to be frank it’s s***. It’s taken people's minds off this pandemic for a couple of hours."

"The entire series has been a shining example of joy, togetherness and humanity. Everything that you don’t represent," shot one Tweeter.

Meanwhile, another called out Piers for saying he hadn't watched the show for 10 years, w hen he called out Dan Walker on the first week of his Strictly journey. Karen Branning wrote: "Actually @piersmorgan does that mean when you commented on @mrdanwalker doing better on his first dance in September(?) You actually hadn't watched it"

Back in September, he wrote about Dan's first dance: "Very disappointing by Mr Dan Walker...I was hoping you would be a lot worse than that!"
