Multiple departments respond to fire that destroyed farm shop Tuesday night near Brooten

A 40-foot by 100-foot building used as a shop for farming equipment near Brooten is considered a total loss. No injuries are listed in the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office news release.

BROOTEN — The Minnesota State Fire Marshal is investigating a shop fire Tuesday night in North Fork Township, according to a Stearns County Sheriff’s Office news release.

According to the release, a passerby noticed smoke and eventually flames, coming from the building on the 48000 block of County Road 25, about six miles from Brooten. She contacted her husband who then made contact with the property owner, Norbert Vait, 63.

Vait was not in the building at the time.

The 40-foot by 100-foot building was used as a shop for farming equipment and is considered a total loss.

No injuries are listed in the news release.

The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Brooten Fire Department, Belgrade Fire Department, Glenwood Fire Department, Sedan Fire Department, Elrosa Fire Department, Villard Fire Department, Belgrade Police Department, Brooten Ambulance, and the Minnesota State Fire Marshal.
